Guus doesn’t like tea and scones

According to a report today involving comments from Guus Hiddink’s agent, the FA have destroyed any chance of acquiring the services of Sir Guus for the England job.

Hiddink’s agent and Guus himself feel that the approach made by the FA was insulting, when they invited Hiddink and his agent along for some tea and scones to see if he would be an eligible candidate for the England job. Here is what his agent has said, and I completely agree:

‘If people are finding out if he might be a candidate to go on the shortlist, then I guess that their homework has not been done very well.

‘You’d expect that when you’re in the world of football you’d know who Guus Hiddink is, what he has achieved at club and international level, if it’s in the Champions League, national league or in the World Cup.

‘I think either you go for Guus or you don’t go for him. To find out he might be a candidate for the shortlist is sort of an insult to Guus Hiddink and his achievements so far.’

HAHA. What a bunch of idiots the FA are. Perhaps he would rather be invited around for a cold frothy and a few snags on the barby instead.

I see both sides of the argument. Just because someone is qualified for the job does not mean they are the best person for the job. The FA will want to have their input into the direction of the national team and if that does not fit with Guus’ thinking, then there is no need to find that out after you’ve hired him.
