Archie Back to Aus?
An article came out today regarding current PSV and Socceroos striker Archie Thompson, hinting a possible return back to the A-League and my team, the Melbourne Victory. A lack of first team runs and also the trouble his family are facing in settling in Holland are the suggested reasons.
Personally, I would love nothing more than to have Archie back in Oz. I understand that he went over there for not only the opportunity to play for a big club such as PSV, but to enhance his first team opportunities with the national squad. However, his suggestion that he could be back at Olympic Park following the World Cup is great news for the Victory supporters.
He was the man everyone came out to see every week, and he would certainly attract new supporters to the club with his new status. As he was sent out to PSV on a loan deal, I would be keeping an eye on this one in the next few months, since it is quite a real possibility he will be back down under for the new season.
