Final team news

June 5th, 2009 | By: Pat | 4 Comments »

Jason Culina’s versatility, which some say is his most valuable trait, will help Pim solve a major headache in tomorrow morning’s World Cup qualifier against Qatar. With right backs Brett Emerton and Luke Wilkshire both injured, the soon-to-be Gold Coast marquee player will be asked to fill in on the flank. A true jack of [...]

There are several minor hiccups in the Socceroos’ preparation for Sunday morning’s (EST) World Cup Qualifier against Qatar. Tim Cahill is suffering from a slight hip injury he sustained in the FA Cup final over the weekend, while reports suggest that Bruce Djite, Mark Bresciano, Mile Jedinak, and Matt Spiranovic are also suffering from injuries [...]

May 30th, 2009 | By: Pat | 3 Comments »

Embattled striker Mark Viduka has turned his back on the Socceroos for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Qatar, Bahrain and Japan. After being given an option by Pim Verbeek to decide whether he should walk into the squad, the big striker has decided against joining up with his team mates for the crucial matches.

Pim Verbeek has included several surprising names in the latest 30 man squad which will hopefully carry the Socceroos over the line into our second consecutive World Cup finals in June.
Young guns Dario Vidosic and Rhys Williams received their first call ups to the national squad, with Vidosic enjoying a stellar season with German outfit [...]

Dilemma, Dilemma

Sorry for the recent inaction of this blog, but with no major Socceroos news of late (I don’t even want to go any near the Seb Ryall thing), I’ll keep everyone thinking today by posing the question that has been on every Socceroo fans’ lips the past two years – do the Socceroos need Mark [...]

May 7th, 2009 | By: Pat | No Comments »

It’s been a long time coming and I should have mentioned this a lot earlier, but we now have new writers for the A-League and Melbourne Victory pages. There’s been some very interesting articles already, so congratulations and welcome to Keiran and Marcus.
Some of the other A-League teams are still without writers, so if you [...]

Australia Remain At 32

May 7th, 2009 | By: Pat | No Comments »

The latest FIFA rankings, released yesterday, show the Socceroos at 32 again. In a quiet international month, there were no real movers and shakers, but hopefully this problem will be rectified come June, when the next round of international qualifiers are scheduled.
We remain as the top ranked Asian team, with Spain unchanged as the overall [...]

Viduka’s Back

April 27th, 2009 | By: Pat | 3 Comments »

Hello everyone. Sorry for the lack of activity on this blog lately, but the lull in Socceroos action has meant that there’s not much to write about. However, while activity in the Socceroos camp is slow, one man has been busy getting his career back on track, and that is of course Mark Viduka.
With injuries [...]

Socceroos Still at 32

April 19th, 2009 | By: Pat | No Comments »

Australia remains the 32nd football nation in the world according to this month’s FIFA rankings. Having played just a single game since the release of last month’s rankings, our win over Uzbekistan in the World Cup Qualifier didn’t warrant enough points to push us higher up the ladder.
