Asian Cup Squad announced

I have no real objections really, some of the younger guys missed out, but they’ll get their chance in the coming years. I’m really happy they picked Dave Carney though, he’s a class act for Sydney FC, and I’m really surprised why he has rejected offers to go to England. Anyway, here’s the squad:

Goalkeepers: Mark Schwarzer, Brad Jones, Michael Petkovic

Defenders: Lucas Neill, Brett Emerton, Michael Beauchamp, Michael Thwaite, Mark Milligan, Patrick Kisnorbo

Midfielders: Mark Bresciano, Harry Kewell, Tim Cahill, Vince Grella, Mile Sterjovski, Luke Wilkshire, Jason Culina, Carl Valeri, Nick Carle, David Carney

Forwards: Mark Viduka, John Aloisi, Archie Thompson, Brett Holman

The talent is certainly there. The pressure is now on to win it.

Do you know who tabled him an offer or who showed interest in Carney? I never knew about that, sounds intersting

I don’t have any specific details, it was vaguely mentioned. I reckon they were first division teams, but still, he’s 25, he should be taking the opportunity. Oh well, at least he can keep playing well for Sydney FC.
