You and 100,000 of your closest friends

Australia soccer officials are predicting that there will be a 100,000 sell-out when the Socceroos take on Greece for a friendly at Melbourne Cricket Ground on May 25. That my friends is a serious crowd and a serious indication of the level of interest the team is generating in Australia. Let’s hope the two teams are able to put on a show that will leave the crowd begging for more.

The question is how many will be supporting Australia and how many will be supporting Greece? Huge Greek population in Melbourne so I’m sure there will be plenty of split loyalties.

I hope that the team you are talking about, my friend, is GREECE!

Any true aussie soccer fan would have already seen the socceroos play before, i saw them in adelaide just 2 years ago in a world cup qualifier :) and no doubt there will be plenty more opportunities to see them play.

however, you must remember melbourne has the largest greek population outside of greece. This could be the only chance for the greek communities of australia to come together and see our heroes, charisteas, nikopolidis, giannakopoulos, zagorakis, the EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS – for us this is a once in a lifetime event!!

I myself am from adelaide, and all my family and freinds, and thousands more, all want to make the trip down to VIC just to see GREECE!

dont get me wrong, i wish australia all the best for germany, and i hope they bring home the cup, but for now, i want to cheer loud and proud as a greek just once more – HELLAS!!!
