World Cup bid news

Here’s an interesting article from The World Game site regarding the World Cup bidders. It summarises the assessment of each bidder by a company called PA Sports. PA Sports is, according to their website, “the global leader in sports information,” and has covered most major sporting events in a variety of sports.

England and Spain/Portugal have the most favourable write ups, but there’s good news for Australia as well, being touted as the strongest of the Asian bids. However, this sentiment isn’t echoed by some, most noticeably former Asian confederation chief Peter Velappan, who believes that for Asia to be successful, there needs to be only one bid from the region and not the current five bids (Australia, Japan, Korea, Qatar, Indonesia).

All fun and games and political BS. Watch this space.
