Whatever, let the Socceroos know that I appreciate them coming to fill out the tournament. Better luck in 2010. Maybe you guys will get drawn into a group you can qualify out of.

That post is even more pointless then your previous. If you have something against the Socceroos, all I have to ask is why?

Karlo, if Moore was captain instead of Viduka would that make you happy, depsite both of them being born in Australian and being raised in Australia. Coming from Canada, I thought you would be more adept with multi-culturalism. You’re a dropkick mate.
Is Canada still upset with 1994 World Cup qualifications?

I’m not upset about anything, although being born here in Canada, I really don’t feel a connection with this country. I was raised as a Croatian and Croatia will always be #1 for me.

Karlo, I am Croatian and also an American. I think your comments are insulting to the Australian team and fans. First off you put Croatia and those of us that root for it in a bad light by attacking the ability of Australia as a team without cause. They have talented players and are one of 32 teams to have qualified from a host of teams internationally. I find it a compliment that they chose M. Viduka as captain and that choice is no reflection on others that may have served well in that role on their team. Your comments denigrate a fine team and antagonize its supporters. As I told another Croatian with a mouthy attitude, cut it out. Tearing down another team baselessly does not prop up the Croatian team in any way whatsoever. Quite the opposite. By the way I grew up in Toronto and you might also learn to respect all those countries that took in Croatians when they were looking to escape political and economic persecution, especially the one that you enjoy now, along with the others, like Australia. Hey Aussies, hope you have a fine tourney, the injuries fade away and have a good showing, win or lose.

I am an Australian with a Croatian heritage. I have dual citizenship and am very proud of both.
Karlo, you are an idiot and an embarrassment to your Croatian community. Your ignorance is astounding and your knowlege on football matters is absent. Like the old saying; if you dont have anything good to say, dont say anything at all!(You idiot!)

Canada should strip people like Karlo of their citizenship. What a loser.
Obviously he’s unhappy that Mark Viduka chooses to play for Australia, rather than Croatia.
That is totally missing the point of the World Cup, of course.
May the best team win.
Congrats to Mark as well - he’s very deserving of the captaincy.

Kapcro,
Thanks for comments mate. You hit the nail right on the head when saying respect should be shown to all those countries who have taken in immigrants. I’m an Aussie and like you living in the States and wish everyone a great tournament. I’m just looking forward to seeing our boys on the world stage again and can’t wait for all the games. I know the Aussie-Croatian game will be a huge one. I have lots of mates back home who have Croatian background and they are all hanging for the game …. I don’t think both our teams should take Japan easilty either and with Brazil, if we all go out and attack them, a draw or win is possible.
Thanks for your comments and good luck.

Martin, back at you buddy. I’m buying some Foster’s just for the Aussie-Cro match.

If Viduka had been asked to play for Croatia he probably would have. Who in their right mind would choose to play for Australia if they had a better offer? Stop kidding yourself if Croatia had asked him before he “decided” to play for the Socceroos (ha, what a nickname) he’d be a playing for them. But the reality is he wasn’t good enough to be chosen for that team.

Karlo, I think you will find that pressure was put on Viduka to play for Croatia. I think I remember ages ago Dukes saying this, around the time of his stint in Zagreb. BTW, I remember reading also that the president hooked him up with that gig….so I think you will realize he was good enough to play for Croatia.

I understand Karlos comments. Im a New Zealand born croatian who is proud of both NZ and Croatia, and like Australia many of the most dominant figures in football in NZ are of croatian heritage. Im incredibly proud of the fact that Croatia is such a strong footballing nation that it has such a commanding influence in so many countries . Dont dis Karlo for feeling the way he does, good on him for sharing his feelings, but for me, Im 10 feet tall with the fuzziest heart each and everytime I see a fellow croatian representing any country in any sport with distinction and honour. Once a croatian, always a croatian. I hope Croatia kicks Aussie arse in the world cup ![]()

Vicko, you’re a hypocrite. Your “motherland” is so fantastic that you choose to live on the other side of the world. Your culture is extremely flawed ergo, your country went into meltdown. Most citizens of new world colonies despise people like yourself. There is no excuse for you now not to return to croatia. You’re probably too gutless and shameless to consider it though given your hypocrisy.

Dan, your clearly a racist idiot that Australia is renowned for, one need only look into the disgracefull manner in which indigenous aboriginal people are treated. Dan your probably one of the thousands of bigots who fueled the Sydney racial riots. Its no wonder Karlo is of that mindset. And btw Dan, Im travelling back to Croatia in Sept to live indefinately where family and cultural values are honoured. I dont mean to dis anybody, but it tires me to read from ignorant parasites like Dan. To the many awesome Australians I apologise as these comments wernt intended for them.

omfg not this again
the race riots were more like gang riots and it was more like 200 idiots not thousands

Im sorry Julia for raising this issue, Ive the greatest regard for Australians, and I definately didnt intend bundling all Australians as racist, but Dan, clearly a bigot, has degenerated this forum into a racist one with his ignorant comments. Australia today did a grand job of holding Brasil to only 2 goals, well done. I still hope however that Croatia beat Australia in the crucial decider. I hope Dan keeps his ignorant and arrogant racial slurs to himself and keep this forum civil. And my apoligies to Australians who have an admirable sporting tradition, a true super power now in almost all sporting codes. Im proud of the fact that Viduka is captain, but for sure like the rest of us here, is as equally proud of his croatian heritage.

I actually agree largely with Joe, the reality is even Croatian born croats living in western countries have unfortunately lost a large amount of the values their families held back in Europe. I dont dis croats living in western countries, survival depends on their ability to settle into the cut throat western environment. Im going to live back in Croatia (Korcula) because I enjoy and want my family immersed in the old values lost in western cultures. Your words are harsh Joe, but I for one appreciate your honesty.

I agree with Karlo

There’s 7 fake Croat deserters on the Australian team
Sterjovski is from Macedonia
and past players Vidmar is Slovenian and Mark Bosnich Croatian…
The list is very very long…
Is it a coincidence that most of them are from ex-Yugoslavia, or is it in the genes?
Croats have nothing to do with Australia, u idiots here claim to be Croatian, but when u gotta play for Australia, u just abandon ur Croatian identiy,
This serbian bum born in france to serbian parents, that was raised in australia, since the age of 2 years old, was kicked back to serbia, when ur scum they send u where u belong, where ur a soccer God, we got to eliminate all ur croatian ties, hypocrits, we don’t need fake croatian deserters or refugees anyways… they’re scum, good for us they moved,

Andrew Bogut and Andrew Vlahov, Aussies’ biggest basketballrs are also of Croatian background, but shh we gotta keep that a secret….

with boksic and suker, who the hell needed viduka, viduka is scum… he’s so arrogant, he hates croatia so much because when he played for zagreb dinamo or croatia back then, he was always booed and insulted by the fans, until he had a nervous breakdown and had to move, good thing we booed that deserter
fake croats are not welcome in croatia, we all know that, they leave like ****** and then come back with their arrogant western attitude and try to impress us, some return even more BIP than when they left, but they’re all scum, anyways, I hope I’m allowed to state my opinion here,
