Socceroos Looking for Tickets Too

February 4th, 2006 | By: WC Bob | No Comments »

You’re not the only one trying to find a way to get World Cup tickets. Australia’s players are currently having a disagreement with the country’s football federation over the number of tickets each play will receive for each match.

The federation has offered to to guarantee a minimum of four tickets per match to each player who will then have to foot the bill.

This seems absurd to me. First off, four tickets is not enough. These players should have the opportunity to share their World Cup experience with the friends and family members who helped them to get there. Four tickets is only going to make it difficult for the players to pick and choose who to take, which could be a major distraction.

And then there is the notion of having to pay for tickets. The Socceroos will be generating millions of dollars for the federation. The least it can do is offer the players some comp tickets. I know, there players are getting paid to play but the whole notion makes the football federation appear minor league. Perhaps because it is!
