The best footballer in the world had a few things to say about Australia and in particular our magician, Guus Hiddink.

Marco, Hiddink sent us to the World Cup for the first time since 1974. Do I need to explain further?

Marco,

Don’t you watch football mate? Under Hiddink Australia have improved 100%, and to take two teams to the WC Semi’s is NOOOOOOOOOO fluke. You might be the dumbest football fanatic in this forum!

Marco,

“i watch serie a spainish and english leage plush champions legae every weekend ”

Firstly, please learn how to spell. And secondly, when you are watching all those leage’s as you put it, don’t forget to put your glasses on, because your MISSING a lot more than those games!

PS its the results that count and a 1-1 draw agaisnt holland with an under strength team is a good result in my books……….. viduka’s not being able to find the back of the net either so when he does could be very interesting!!….

Trust me Marco when i say the world fears us. Australia is a very physical side and doesnt take a backwards step. when we can hold the flying dutchmen to a draw with only 10 men, with kewell to come back in and a 100% fit squad, watch out. in case anyone missed it, australias players are all world class. they all play for the worlds top clubs, they are not all hacks playing from the australian a-league. my predictions not only will australia do well in the world cup but when australia hits qualifying for 2010 they will be without doubt in the top 10-20 countries in the world. so look out marco.

also, brazil is such a team of individuals, they are only winning games because of the quality of its squad. they doent know the meaning of there is no i in team. my prediction is they will not do very well at this world cup. too many egos in such a small space. dont get me wrong, who wouldnt want those players in your team. the country whose squad most plays like a true team will win.

obviously you didnt read my blog, i wrote it in the game wrap. i did state aussies played badly in the first half because they where overwhelmed. but if you didnt notice that they attcked the dutch in the second half with one short you are blind. by the way the junior sides consistantly play and beat better soccer nations. the actual quality of the a league is better than the nsl. its a very english premier league type play. very fast. it will only get better and atract better players.

Not that Brazil isnt a great team, but they could also severly underestimate Australia at their expense. They shouldnt get too cocky because theyre number one.

You Better watch out with what you say marco. Hiddink is a really good coach. Has anyone else taken you to the world cup in the last 30 year? no, didnt think so. I would love to see how you would do without a coach like hiddink. He took the netherland to the semi’s aswell, and those were definately not fixed matches. So next time you look to critiseize a dutch coach, i would choose your words alot more carefull. Because you did insult me by saying that.

Troy, you must first learn to form ideas into coherent sentences. Secondly, make up your mind. Is Brasil a good squad or not? Furthermore,a team is made up of individuals. With good fortune,Brasil plays as a team-thus they have cinco copas del mundo. You are jealous or envious of Brasil. They are the best and will play well contrary to what you think or say.Egos? All the players play for their country. The egos have been left at the door. Brasil respects all the other teams, too. And one more thing,Viva Brasil y Viva la copa.

Brazil has great individual talent, this is unquestionable. Brazil has won the world cup a record 5 times, so they must have had some great teams, as only teamwork can win you the cup. So it won’t be any different this time around.
All professional football/soccer players have over-inflated egos, including the Brazilians. So forget about that arguement.
Prediction: Brazil 2 Aussies 0

Goodluck Aussies, see you in the second round!

i would just like to say that Australia will beat Brazil. Who cares if Brazil has Ronaldo and his spooning buddy Ronaldhino. Australia has Kangaroo’s and Paul Hogan. My prediction: Aus 2 Bra 1. I’m 100% sure Australia will win. Trust Me.

hey marco, why do you hate australia so much, you liev here, yet you cant stop bagging them. i can understand that you have you favourite sides. everybody is entitled to a choice. but please if you want to be unaustralian thats your choice. but my choice is to support australia. dont get me wrong. i do acknowledge there are better teams. i havent run down to the tab and bet on australia to win the cup. but surely you must respect that all australians except yourself want to support australia, to see how far we can go against the best. if we lose we still made the world cup and its a step in the right direction for australian soccer regardless of the results of any games.

Ok firstly Martijn why should i watch out what i say .. i said nothign to offend your counrty .. i didnt know that by stating the truth you get offended. All i said is that hes not that good and i recon i can name at least 15 coaches who are better than him (purely on the fact hes won no big titles ever) … Secondly troy i do like australia and i would liek to see them win games, but i just dont liek how people cant see the truth and are blind and that now that australia is in the WC they know everyhting about football yet have prob watched only a couple games before .. Australias have a good sporting mentality and that coz they alwasy give it a go yet there biggest problem is that they alwasy talk to soon .. as most people are doing so now

Hey marco, blinded from the truth? Is fortune telling now a certified science or something? None of these events have taken place, in fact Australia hasnt been placed in a situation like this since ‘74 so how the hell can you judge a team without any facts? You say that Australians talk too soon. What is it that you are doing now? If you’re going to be a hypocrit at least be a hypocrit with something constructive to say. World Cup soccer (yeah thats right soccer, I’m an Australian and all you wankers who call it football can screw yourself…you claim to be patriotic)is a completely different arena to your precious weekend “football” matches. Coaching ability is not based on how many titles you have. If you were really aware of what a “team” was youd realise that all aspects of management contribute to the successful nature of a team. This includes the players. Take Brazil, a team riddled with skillful and experienced players and its going to be a hell of alot easier to coach them. What Guus Hiddink has done with the Socceroos in such a short time is almost miraculous. He is the greatest thing to happen to this nation in respect to the growth of the sport in Australia.
