Money doesn’t always mean brains

This week we were shocked by the news that Jose Mourinho has left Chelsea. This to me is a very sad story, and the ’special one’ as he prefers to be called has been short changed by a brainless billionaire.

Roman Abramhovich brought Mourinho from Porto in 2004, after he’d won the Champions League. I think it was clear from the outset that Abramovich wanted the Champions League more than anything else. So far there has been a love-hate relationship between the two, and the 1-all against Rosenborg this week had to be the last straw.

Its amazing to think that Mourinho hadn’t done enough. No real football fan could expect that Chelsea, let alone any team in Europe, to achieve the treble without a bit of luck. This sort of thing happens once in a managers lifetime (if they are given a good enough team). For the amount of years Sir Alex Ferguson has been coaching, he only achieved this once, and the circumstances were lucky to say the least. They didn’t win the league that convincingly. The FA Cup wasn’t a thrashing against Newcastle either, and we all know what happened against Bayern Munich. Ferguson should have brought a lottery ticket. That’s not to say he wasn’t a good manager, just that so much luck is required, and that is something that even ‘The Special One’ cannot control. The season is such, that its duration and intensity means that players need things to go their way sometimes. They were desperately unlucky against Liverpool in two Champions League semi finals. They had a string of injuries last year which led to them relinquishing the Premier League title.

Abramhovich previously ordered that the club makes ridiculous bids for Henry and Ronaldinho, when clearly they would not fit in with the style of play at Chelsea. He did get this way with Shevchenko and Ballack, and Mourinho didn’t like this, with good reason. They are good players, but they simply weren’t part of Mourinho’s plans. Lampard plays the exact same position as Ballack, so that was a pointless move. Shevchenko hasn’t adapted to the Premier League well and Drogba doesn’t play well with him at all. So this billionaire wants the best players in the world to somehow gel and play well, (even though many of them play the same positions, not to mention the egos), wants to win the treble every year, and wants to see a stylish brand of football as well!

Abramovich doesn’t understand that nothing’s perfect, especially in football. He just wants to sit back and watch his ‘dream team’ win every trophy there is, no excuses. Real Madrid had such a team but hadn’t won a trophy in 4 years (until they won La Liga last year). Doesn’t that say a lot about Chelsea and Mourinho? Mourinho will be a huge loss to Chelsea and I think they will regret it. Their owner doesn’t have a footballing brain and sets his standards too high. The ’special one’ has been evicted by a very ordinary figure.

stop being so shocked. morihnio sucks and its good that hes gone. the choice between shevchenko and jose is easy. a guy whos basically the best striker in european history or a guy who sits on the bench and critisizes.
