Milicevic ain’t happy

May 13th, 2006 | By: Matt | 11 Comments »

Ljubo Milicevic is not a happy man. Having been left out of the World Cup squad, he has ripped into Hiddink about his exclusion. Milicevic has been playing for FC Thun in Switzerland, and feels that having played in the Champions League and Uefa Cup this season more than justifies his selection.

This is what the man had to say. It’s quite funny some of the things he said.

“Whatever the criterion is for the national team is, I don’t understand it,”
“Being left out is pretty hard to swallow considering the season I’ve had. I had to have a laugh.”

“I’m not that surprised, to be honest. I never had much contact from the national team and I was always pessimistic about the World Cup. My instincts were right.”

“I think people involved have very short memories, I was captain of the under 20s and captain of the Olympic team. I picked up two injuries playing for Australia – I had a horrific run of injuries playing for Australia – and came back [to fitness] to captain my team in Europe but I’m obviously not good enough for Australia.”

“Maybe I should move back to Australia. You seem to have a better chance of playing for Australia if you’re playing in the A-League than in the Champions League against Thierry Henry”

“In Australia, the opponents are obviously better than Thierry Henry.

“I played Champions League, UEFA Cup and captained my team and that’s not good enough? I’m sorry. People I don’t know and people who I never expected to hear from say [not being selected] it’s bullshit.”

can totally understand his fustration. What else can the guy possibly do to earn a place in the squad? would have provided great back-up in defence

Yeah, I picked him to clinch a spot in the squad. He is more justifiable than Milligan. Then again, Hiddink obviously left him out for a reason.

Marco – you’re an ill-informed moron. Guus Hiddink was offered WHATEVER HE WANTED by the South Koreans and he still said no. The South Koreans were willing to match ANY price.

It’s not about money for him. It’s about the challenge and what new tactics he can bring to the team. He is not as shallow and moronic as you are, obviously.

HAHAHA J your the real moron … if he were up to a challenge hed stay in Australia, as he knows as so do the many people who know about soccer(unlike yourself) that Australia as a team struggle, as if Uruguay was a little better and if Diego forland played well and didnt injue him self we would not have seen Australia go to the world cup … and let me tell you this. the rusian team is backed by the Russian billionaire who owns chealse who has brought some of the worlds best players to chealse, wouldn’t you think that if south Korea had money to spend on players like that Korean teams would have top players as well?? In addition world cup 2002 was all rigged and fixed.. so there goes your theory of Korea ever being a good squad – so maybe you should inform your self better before you talk about soccer with me!!!

And also — If Hiddink was good and cared about Australia, why would he select A league Players (unless he just wanted to suck up to the nation i guess) which A league is about as good as the Italian C league (which was proved when Hiddink brought Archie tomposn to PSG who struggled bad there and is back here now – another good call on his behalf)and not select Milicevic ??? Why dont you answer me that question you idiot

well Graham Arnold rears his ugly head once again.

apparently Arnold’s manager is also the manager of Beauchamp and Gilligan….so obviously Arnold has stake in furthering the careers of those two undeserving pricks.

So the moron shows himself.

Nobody who’s worked with Guus Hiddink closely, has a bad word to say about him.

This moron thinks he knows Hiddink better? Yeah OK, whatever.

The Socceroos Squad is not about ‘big names’ playing in big leagues. It is a Team. Why have a bunch of bench-warmers who bring nothing new to the Team.

It’s better to be from the A-League (and playing regularly), than be a bench warmer in the biggest Team who never gets any play.

But the moron obviously doesn’t know football.

As for the second moron. As if Hiddink can be easily swayed by an assistant coach. Give me a break.

OmG you really know nothing – firstly i never said any one says bad about Hiddink, its just hes not as good as what people say he is .. also Milicevic plays all the time you moron – and no its not good to get A league players because if they were good they would be in EUROPEEEEEEEEEEEEE — Oh and the socceroos is not about bug names, but the media make Kewelle out to be one of the best in the world, but when they asked Ronaldo an dZidane who he was they had no idea .. once again dont talk to me about soccer when you prob dont even watch it, wether thats a league or european leagues

European clubs are overrated. A lot of the ‘big names’ are there to sell merchandise. Look at any of the Japanese players in Europe for example – t-shirt sellers, no more.

The lack of Aussie players in Europe is largely attributed to that – football is not the dominant code, not much point getting Aussie players, since the merchandise sales would be minimal.

But again, such details escapes the moronic football critic wannabe.
