Kennedy To Be Unleashed Against Japan?

When Josh Kennedy came on and scored that goal against Liechtenstein with his head, I knew how valuable he could become within the Australian squad. Kennedy not only has height, but he is mobile and gets around easily. When he came on in that match we had more flare going forward and we also posessed a different target option going forward to what we had seen previously. The indications that Kennedy will play against Japan are picking up pace, and with good reason. Kennedy could be that extra edge which gives us that much needed victory against Japan. Not only will we need to defend well, but we will need to create options and chances which we can utilise to score goals. Kennedy gives us these.
Where he would play and with who remains to be seen. It is unlikely Hiddink would use both Kennedy and Viduka up front in a 2 man attack with the two strikers not having played together thus far. Perhaps the option Hiddink is toying around with is introducing Kennedy at half time and using him from there, with Cahill in behind him. With Kennedy, we have someone who we can aim at in the box. We have the speed and skill down the wings, particularly Kewell on the left. By having a specific target to aim at, we are more likely to score those much needed goals, especially with Kennedy towering over the Japanese defenders.

Prior to the Liechtenstein game, I had given Kennedy little thought, however the more I think about it, and the more hints that he may be used against the Japs, the more it seems to make sense, and the more confident I am that we can get that crucially needed victory.
