Guus Censors ‘Roos
Darn. It looks like Mark Viduka won’t be writing for World Cup Blog after all.
Coach Guus Hiddink, a man who obviously prefers censorship over free speech, has issued an edict saying his players will not be allowed to serve as columnists once the Socceroos begin training camp in May. He apparently wants them focused on that silly thing known as soccer.
But all might not be lost. The Professional Footballers Association is saying that the Iron Fist of Guus can’t prevent the players from playing journalist. Says PFA chief executive John Didulica: “I have spoken to some players and they say they are mature enough to handle such responsibilities.”
Since when has maturity ever been a requirement for journalism?
For the record, all bloggers on World Cup Blog are free to participate on any team in the tournament as long as their playing does not get in the way of their writing.

Dukes has never really been a wordsmith, tending to let his feet do the talking.
Then again, Guus is not exactly a press whore either, which is why we love him.
