Does Corica Deserve a World Cup Spot?
Fresh off scoring the match-winning in the A-League grand final, the question has been brought up whether Steve Corica should be included on the Socceroos team in Germany.
“I’ve always said I love playing for the Socceroos, and obviously this is a great time for the Socceroos at the moment. Whether I’ve done enough to make the Socceroos? I don’t know that’s up to the coach,” he said.
Corica played fairly well this year for Sydney after returning to Australia following 10 years playing in England and Japan.
But the guy hasn’t played for the Socceroos since 2001 and I don’t see how Guus Hiddink could include him on the team. He’s not the player he was 10 years ago and even though he has done a lot for Australia soccer, he is not someone I think who deserves to take a spot from one of the players who helped us qualify for the World Cup.
Let’s following the lead of the Oscars and give him a Lifetime Achievement Award instead of a spot in Germany.
