Ceccoli Makes Case for Socceroos Recall
Alvin Ceccoli hasn’t played for the Socceroos since the 1998 Oceania Nations Cup debacle, but the in form Sydney FC might just get the recall he so earnestly desires when Austalia announce its squad for the Asian Cup qualifier in Manama against Bahrain on February 22.
“Obviously I’d love to get picked, but I’m not getting over-excited. Having said that, if my name is in there, then I’ll be very grateful. I’ve been waiting for my chance for a while,” Ceccoli said.
One thing working in Ceccoli’s favor is his experience playing multiple positions including left back, sweeper, stopper and midfield. If he does get a shot, it will be a nice story for a player who has been out of the national team picture for so many years.
