Australians Are Bullies?
Japan has come out and said that Australia are a bunch of bullies and we employ dirty football tactics on the pitch, particularly with our tackles. Hiddink is furious, and now he wants to kick the Japs’ arse even more. Japan, if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen!

We’ll see who will be crying soon… Hahaha…
FORZA ITALIA !

geez, i’m gonna say this once and only once. the japan australia match was CRAP in japans case. they played horribly. dont think thats how they always play…and im not just making up some lame excuse…i actually mean it. they couldnt connect their finishes up and overall the team was just sloppy and they weren’t marking the damn players! also it’s something japan ALWAYS tend to do….once they have a goal or 2 in their pockets they sorta lay back and tend to let in goals. this happened with their match against germany in may. they were winning 2-0 then germany scored 2 goals in like 15mins! i wont make excuses though, japan are a very good team when they play well, and they need to show this against croatia.

Just watched the USA vs Italy game… Three red cards. Don’t remember seeing any red cards in the Australia vs Japan game. I dont think austrlia are ‘bullies’ at all after watching that match.

I’m certainly looking forward to the Brasil vs Galahroos goal fest this evening, take note my colonial (Prisoner of Mother England) cousins, a lesson in how to play football is almost upon you. Cahill actually thinks he can win the game, that is either arrogance or ignorance, the latter I think! I hope that Brasil gives a stunning preformance and also a couple of new World Cup records i.e. fastest goal ever and most goals scored. Aussies play to win no matter the cost or how dirty they play (Cahill should have been red-carded for his attempt at a tackle vs Japan, count yourself lucky), I’ve seen my boy’s junior football team play better, fairer football. One last word. How many players on Skippy’s team are actually Australian by birth?

This is FAO LiverpoolFC, Blue Samurai Assassin and Hammo.
I shan’t gloat over the score apropos (that means with regard to BTW, saves you reaching for the dictionary) Brasil vs Sandpitstan my pampered austral cousins. That’s not the style in this country, we leave all that nonsense to you racist biggots.
Come on Croatia.
Brasil - 9 fouls
wait for it …
Sheliaroos - 23
Vince Grella goes in for a tackle on Ronaldo and scrapes his studs down the Brazilian’s shin.
Dirty, dirty, dirty.
I really hope the you come up against the likes of Italy, Holland or Argentina. You want to play dirty and show your studs to players, these guys do it well.
Football is apparently Australia’s fifth favourite sport, let’s list the others in no particular order:-
Whingeing
Cane-toad popping
Weak namby-pamby lager drinking
Working in London pubs
I look forward to any come back off you three. Indulge me!!!!

Hmm, racist biggots? Strange considering the language used in that post, phooey.
Dirty? Well maybe my memory is bad but I don’t seem to be able to recollect a single opponent injured as a result of an Aussie tackle or a single red card to an Aussie. As for the number of fouls, it means nothing. They played under the same referees and rules as their opponents. If there was any dirty play I’m sure the referees would have issued a few red cards. That’s what they are for after all. If a tackle was late, or over-zealous, it resulted in a foul. If the Aussies are willing to play with that then where is the problem. They received their punishment and got on with the game. The free kick the opponent receives fixes any wrongdoing. If a team can’t handle the physical side of the game, maybe they shouldn’t be playing at that level. But then again, I have yet to hear a single player say the Aussies play dirty. It’s simply an excuse used by simpering fans.

Russ … look up racist and bigot, you’ll be surprised what the true definitions are.
Thank you for your kind and thoughtful attempt at trying to educate me as to the nuances of football, after all Britain did export it to the rest of the world. Obviously you have forgotten that! I’d stick to your day job.
As for ’simpering’, look that up at well. If you’re going to use three syllable words, do yourself a favour and learn what they mean.
Lastly … look to Blue Samurai Assassin and his phonetic Japanese, they may be too polite a nation to have a go back, but I certainly will put you big-headed buggers in your place.

Funny how the Aussie supporters are very quiet today! Big, loud and boastful after their one and only win, but ain’t that just typical for a nation of bad sports. Only shout when their team is winning.
Fact is, get use to being ROOSERS!!
What a turn up for the books … France drawing with S.Korea.

Firstly Phooey, i agree that you did export football to the world, and what do you have to show for it? One world cup in the 60`s and on home soil……GET IN!!!!!!!
Jose, or JOWSAY as they say in the country that also claims to have invented the English language, hmmmm. May i just point out that Australia havenĀ“t managed to de-rail their own campaign by setting up a sting on their own manager. Have fun in Blackpool….. P.S maybe you can buy a DVD of Tim Hennmans career, should fill the half time break.
And lastly to the both of you. At least we have managed to score three legitmate goals without resorting to pulling braids like a bunch of girls or hoping for an own goal to beat the footballing jugernauts of Paraguay.
You`ll be out by the Quarters and have a blast when McClaren gets hold of the reigns, what a joke.

Bad sports? Was eight years ago now but i recall the way the english media treated Beckham for the sendoff (un-deserved) and loss to Argentina. Something about the Daily Mirror printing a Dart Board with his picture on it? Also fans at the 2000 Euro cup chanting to Beckham “we hope your kids die of cancer”…Every nation shouts when winning and takes it to heart when theres a loss. In no way is Australia a nation of bad sports in comparison to any other country. Some of the best sporting games that Australia has lost that ive seen (most will agree) were the cricket ashes in 2005, Rugby World Cup in 2003 and recently the Brazil game which i thought was a great game. As for the Cane-toad popping its great! Especially cane toad ‘hockey’ good times..good times.

Still quiet from the LiverpoolFC, Blue Samurai Assassin and Hammo camp. Are you guys real football supporters? Or did you jump on the football bandwagon after Australia qualified?
Thanks for the quiet voice of reason Dougy, it was BSA’s and LFC’s racial slurs that brought me out of my corner, gloves off and fighting. Those kind of comments, especially those made by BSA, are the ugly face of football and I hope the rest of you real Australian fans are ashamed of your brethren. I had to put up with that nonsense on an almost daily basis during my two year stay in Oz.
None of the games so far have really done anything for me, Brasil vs Australia edge of the seat football. Brasil, England, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Holland, Portugal and Spain all look flaky in defence and beatable. If I had to bet on who will win this year, my money is on Argentina.

Phooey, did some Australian beat you up earlier in life? If so, I apologise on their behalf. If not, well, you have a very odd manner of entertianing yourself.

An Australian beat me up … not a chance mate, not a chance! Verbal racial abuse almost everyday for two years. This is suppose to be a football dicussion site, I come in here and read BSA’s feeble attempt at humour. If you’d been the victim of abuse, you’d also find it a very difficult pill to swallow.
Has Hewitt apologised to the German referee that he swore at after the Brasil game yet?

Wow, I was searching for news about how the rest of the world was viewing Australia’s performance in the World Cup and I’m surprised. People actually think we play dirty? I think someone said we didn’t play like professionals.
Why does everyone think that just because our players are from Australia they don’t play for professional clubs? Most of our players play for European clubs; soccer isn’t popular enough over here so the pay is shit.
Then there’s the playing dirty. First, what team doesn’t try a bit of pushing and shoving and diving? I hate it, most fans hate it, but if you don’t do it you lose. Sad but true. But Australia isn’t doing it more than anyone else. Watch our games again, particularily the Australian-Brasil one. Both sides made some bad fouls, Grella on Ronaldo probably the worst, but the majority of kicks given away were for slight touches that the players fell over for.
I hope FIFA looks into how that game was refereed. There was so much bias, corners given away that weren’t corners, a really bad tackle in the box against Australia, it was terrible. Brazil played well, but so did Australia, and it was THIER dirty tactics that stopped us from scoring.
But who cares. Our entire country went beserk at just qualifying. We don’t give a rats arse if we win or lose. We are having the times of our lives seeing Australians playing at a World Cup. Leave off and let us have our fun. We’ll be knocked off in a couple more games.

Initially I was looking forward to watching Australia doing well in the World Cup knowing the good that it would do for the sport Down Under. My opinion has changed!
The Australian contingent is disrespectful towards the game, their opponents, officials and FIFA, they don’t deserve to get to the knock-out stages. The sooner they’re south of the equator the better, then the rest of us can settle back and continue to watch football’s finest do their thing. Come on Croatia!
They have brought a domineering, whining, thuggish, bullying attitude to a lovely competition enjoyed world wide by millions. They’ve certainly ruined the competition so far. They’ve called the Japanese all the names under the Sun, their coach man-handles one of the officials, Kewell verbally abuses the referee after the Brasil game. Why? Because they have no idea of ‘Fair play’ and ‘Sportsmanship’. I’ve seen better behaviour in kinder garden playgrounds.
I’m praying that it is another 32 years before they qualify, talk about throwing your toys out of the pram. Grow up and stop sulking.
If I was an Australian I’d certainly be holding my head in shame. The Socceroos are a disgrace to football!

Disgrace to Football? Are you drunk? How can you say the australian team has brought on a thuggish bullying attitude that has somehow ruined the game that no other nation has done before? domineering? Thought that was the point? Its not like you will give your opponent the ball because you feel like your dominating the game too much.
If you’re right and they are thuggish and bullies its best the australian team disbands that way we wont see anymore harse tackels, yellow or red cards as other teams simply won’t have anyone to model themselves on. The australian team has’nt any red cards or for that matter anyone with 2 yellows cards for automatic next match suspension. They have also not injured a Japanese or Brazilian player. Australians have no reason to be shameful of their team, for what they were expected to achieve so far and what they have i’m satisfied even if they lose against Croatia.
What a goal by Joe Cole! Once Australia gets knocked out I hope either England or Germany go on to take it.

Dougy where in my post did I mention on the pitch. Nope I can’t see it, obviously it’s not me who is drunk. Attitude ol’ boy attitude.
Cracking goal! Lovely control off the chest and what a volley off the laces. Are we going to see a clean sheet for England? Shan’t mention Owen.
Thanks for the vote of confidence as to England lifting the trophy. Personally and I’m simply going off preformances so far … Argentina!

I’m not sure i know what you mean. If not on the pitch then where? Anyways i’m not going to argue anymore that the team is somehow the dirty team of the world cup. It really doesnt do the team’s accomplishments (small by the big teams standards) justice as there has been plenty of instances in other games of more dangerous challanges.
What a game! The last 10mins! Luck i think played a part in swedens 2nd goal. But a goal is a goal. Real shame about Owen, lets hope its not too bad.
I think Holland might even have a chance as well. Guess we’ll find out tomorrow when they play.

Looking at how the Oz cricket team behaves I wouldn’t be surprised if the soccer team is a bit on the overly aggro side. But at least the players are likely to share a beer with the other side afterwards.
