someone their spoke about the uncertainty of football, being the best thing about the beautiful game. i agree with that. that's what keeps us glued onto our seats through the whole 90 minutes of a game. of course croatia are indeed a better footballing nation, but so were france when they went down to senegal,to give just one example...!! lesser teams aways have the tendency of closing the gaps in an event as important as the world cup, so the gulf won't be as wide as we think it would be. As a sporting nation australia have always proved their mettle in all they do, and now its football's time to stand in awe of the SOCCEROOS...!!! we don't give up easily on anything, and we have a coach who has worked miracles in the last WC. when south korea could be giant killers i don't see any reason why we can't. i.m all eyes to see australia do well.

Ze, we are no longer called Soccer Australia, now Football Federation Australia. So I guess you can call that progress. Somehow though, changing Socceroos to Footballroos doesn't quite sound right!

I think Dukes is great but wouldn't it be good for him to get out of his scoring slump for Oz and bang in a couple in the World Cup. Schwarzer will be fine - he had another solid year for Boro and he showed against Uruguay why is is our best keeper.

Looking forward to the Dutch game to see where we are at?

"At the end of the day, it is 11 men against 11 men and everyone is human."

That's the reason football is so good, IMO. Half of it is unpredictable.

Anyways, great to see Australia excited for this WC. Now if you would just stop calling it soccer.. :)

I am very glad to see Australia at full strength it makes for stronger competition.

"At the end of the day, it is 11 men against 11 men and everyone is human."

This may be true on one level, but some men have superhuman ability on that field and an 11 man Brazil is much different than an 11 man Australia. More than just a sense of mateship is needed to get out of our group. A more fit Viduka and a better positioned Schwarzer are two things.
