Aloisi – Third Injury Concern

May 22nd, 2006 | By: Matt | 2 Comments »

John Aloisi will not play against Greece on Thursday. During a game for his club side Alaves, he came off 60 minutes into the match with a foot injury. During training today, he suffered a recurrence. The injury is known as plantar fascitis which means tissue on the bottom of his foot is badly inflamed. There is a chance he might be back against Holland, but that is still up in the air. Hopefully he will be fit and ready for the game against Japan along with our two other injury concerns, Kewell and Cahill.

I am devastated…I thought we had a great chance of drubbing Japan but I have lost confidence in that now.Neill and Moore and Schwarzer will be brought into action too much.Popovic will foul someone and give away a free kick..disaster!I really think that Australia needs to rely on domestic players more because our mercurial OS players inevitably get injured.Having said that..part of me is hoping that the injuries are Guus’ ploy to make Japan overconfident..that they are not as serious as we are being made to believe. He is a wily coach aftyer all.Fingers crossed…lol either way I live in Japan so the atmosphere should be electric!

Hopefully if neither Kewell, Cahill or Aloisi are fit Archie Thompson will get his chance to shine for the green and gold :)
